Mission Haiti
What is Mission Haiti?
Running Free first visited Haiti in the fall of 2008. Our goal was to bring to the people of Haiti a day of celebration in the form of a 10km road race. On January 16, 2009 the first ever “Courier de la Soliderite” took to the streets of Cap Haitian, Haiti. Over 20,000 Haitians lined the streets to watch local and international competitors race. Without question, the event was hugely successful in building community and diverting attention for the daily struggles of the Haitian people. Since that first race, Running Free has teamed up with local and Haitian NGO’s to deliver other sustainable projects aimed to improve the living standards of the Haitian people.
KidSport Ontario believes that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. This is a shared belief that staff members at RSRaces and Running Free Milton feel, and this is exactly why KidSport is our chosen charity for the Milton Half Marathon & 5km Run/Walk. KidSportâ„¢ provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.
